2007 Harvest

Mr Carpenter, I was wondering how the 07 harvest is going. Thanks, Charles

Dear Charles, Its been an interesting harvest, as each is. We started off with an early heat spike that had us bringing in fruit that was collapsing to raisans. About 2/3 of our vineyards were able to weather this and benefited from a long cool spell. We got a little bit of heat last week, but now we're dealing with some early rains. And we still have fruit on the vine. Mother nature is challenging us at each turn. In the winery I have three interns, representing Spain, Chile and Joliet, Illinois, and we redesigned our cellar with 9 new smaller tanks that are helping us further optimze our fermentations. The wines so far taste great, and we've already barrelled down several lots. We have about 60 tons left out on the vine. Wish us luck. Chris

2008 Harvest

When do you expect the Cabernet to be harvested this year (2008)? Cliff

Our first Cabernet for Lokoya will be off of Mt Veeder, and should start rolling in sometime around the 15th of September. That is if the weather holds.

Another fellow Illini who has done well. Good luck, and Go Illini. As a wine collector and fellow Illini, I will tell you that Lokoya is my favorite.

Thank you for that. Is everyone mourning the end of The Chief?
